An Australian Dollars monetary themed classroom reward system using $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 notes and Reward Tokens.
Use this teaching resource as a class reward system.
Set up a classroom display with the Classroom Rewards Store poster and Token Reward posters. Provide each student with their own My Reward Money Wallet and Account Balance sheet. Cut and laminate a set of $5, $10. $20, $50 and $100 Australian Notes to keep on hand. As a class, decide how many Australian Dollars each reward is worth, and record the amount on each poster.
Hand out ‘money’ to students who display great efforts in the classroom. Students use their Account Balance sheet to record their credits and debits and keep their money in their Wallets.
When students have accumulated the required amount of money for a reward, they exchange their notes for a Reward Token. Students can use their token for their chosen reward at a time agreed to by the teacher. Students may receive a rare Golden Ticket for a ‘super’ effort with an accompanying special reward decided by the class. They may also lose some of their money, as determined by the teacher.
A blank Reward Token poster has been included to create individual class rewards.
This Australian Dollars – Monetary Themed Classroom Reward System includes:
- 1 x page set of each $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 Australian Notes
- 1 x page set of Golden Tickets
- 1 x page of two My Reward Money Wallet templates
- 1 x Account Balance sheet
- 1 x Classroom Reward Store poster
- 15 x Reward Token posters
- 1 x blank Reward Token poster
- 1 x blank Golden Ticket Reward Token poster.
It would be great if Australian coins could be added to this for younger years.
Hi there Kerry-Lee. Thank you for your comment. So we can keep all of our suggestions and requests together, can you please submit a change request to this resource using the Changes & Updates tab above? This tab can be found near the comments section. Thanks again, and have a wonderful day!
Thanks Victoria. Is there an editable version of this? I'd like to add some of my own rewards.
Hi Darren, There is not an editable version of this resource, however, there is a printable blank reward token poster that you can use to record your own rewards on. Kind regards, Victoria.
What kind of reward have people used the Golden Ticket for???
Hi Darren, You can discuss with your class examples of "Golden Ticket" behaviour and add these to your class rules. You might also like to use the golden tickets for: - a reward for doing something without being asked - a reward for doing something that is above the expected - trading in an agreed amount of the reward money (e.g. $200 = a golden ticket) We hope your class enjoys using their new reward system! Kind regards, Victoria.
Does anyone have any ideas what to put as the golden ticket reward? I'm a beginning teaching and plan on implementing this in my classroom, however I am unsure what a golden ticket reward should be.
I have said to my class that if they receive a golden ticket then they can select something from the prize box. Lots of shops have a great range of stationery that start from around 0.50c
Hi Roy, Thanks for your comment. You could hand the money out to students who are showing examples of what is expected in class and reflect the class rules. The golden tickets could be handed out to those students who demonstrate behaviour that is above expectations. As a class, you could discuss examples of what this might look like. We hope you have fun implementing this resource in your classroom! Kind regards, Victoria.
