Alien Counting Mats: Out-of-This-World Learning!

This set of Alien counting mats have been created by a teacher and feature adorable alien creatures ready to help students practise their counting skills. Each mat presents a different alien needing a specific number of eyes. Students can place googly eyes or draw the required number of eyes on the monsters, making counting an interactive and exciting experience.

These mats have been designed for repeated use in the classroom. For durability, we recommend laminating the mats. Once laminated, students can use whiteboard markers to draw the eyes on the aliens, easily wiping them clean for the next use.

Different Ways to Use These Mats in the Classroom

  1. Station Activity: Set up a counting station where students rotate through during maths time. Each student can take turns placing the correct number of eyes on the aliens, promoting individual practice in a fun, hands-on way.
  2. Partner Challenge: Pair students up and have them work together to complete the mats. One student can count and place the eyes while the other verifies the count, encouraging teamwork and collaborative learning.
  3. Interactive Whiteboard Use: Project the mats onto an interactive whiteboard and have students come up to the board to draw the eyes. This makes the activity a whole-class event, ensuring everyone participates and learns together.
