How to Create a Biography Poster Using Cut-Outs 

We’ve included a complex set of instructions to assist your students in completing this biography project. Here’s a sneak peak:  

1. Gather Materials – In addition to the cut-outs contained in the resource, students will need poster board, scissors, glue/tape and some colored pencils/markers.
2. Plan the Poster Layout – Students will need to consider the shapes that best fit the information they want to include in their biography project, then plan the poster layout accordingly.
3. Write and Cut – Students will write information about their chosen person directly on the cut-outs, decorate the shapes with colors and drawings to make them stand out, then carefully cut out the shapes they’ve selected.
4. Assemble the Poster – Time to arrange the cut-outs on the poster board! Students can move these around until they are happy with the layout, then glue or tape the shapes onto the board.
5. Review and Share – Once students have checked, double-checked and triple-checked their work, it is time to share their awesome poster with the class!

This versatile resource can be used in a variety of learning areas and across a range of grade levels. It can also be used for individual projects, pair work or small group work.
