Make learning volume engaging and hands-on with this matching volume activity! This fun and colorful resource includes illustrated cards featuring everyday objects with their dimensions, along with matching cards that display the correct volume. Students will test their multiplication skills by pairing the object with its corresponding volume, reinforcing their understanding of both customary and metric units. With a recording sheet and an answer key included, this resource is perfect for math centers, partner work, or small-group instruction.

Playing Our Volume Math Game
Use the instructions below to get your students playing our volume math game in no time!
- Download the matching volume activity in the format of your choice.
- Print the resource and cut apart the cards. We recommend printing the cards on cardstock and laminating for longevity.
- Give students a copy of the recording sheet.
- Students can use this activity in several ways:
- Memory Game: Shuffle the object and answer cards separately and place them face down in two different sections. Students take turns flipping over one of each kind of card to see if they match. If they do, the student keeps the cards. If not, they flip them back over. The student with the most card pairs at the end is the winner.
- Matching Game: Place the object cards in a face-down pile, and spread out the answer cards. Students take turns flipping an object card and finding the volume. They then find the matching answer card and record the answer on their recording sheet. If their answer is incorrect and they cannot find a card, they will try again their next turn. The player with the most matching pairs at the end is the winner.
