The time is near! It’s almost time for those opening ceremonies and we’re more than excited to share our newly updated resources for the 2024 Olympic Games! This fan favorite is a great way to bring a bit of geography and world travel into your ELA and grammar lessons.

Build the Olympic Games Lineup With ABC Order

This printable resource is a great way to incorporate the Olympic Games into your everyday classroom lessons. It’s never a bad idea to incorporate a bit of practice with ABC order, and this resource is the one to do just that!  Here’s a bit of background that your students need to know to complete this Olympic Games Activity.

At the beginning of The Games, the athletes enter the stadium wearing their national uniforms. The athletes walk together as a country behind a banner displaying the country’s name and flag. The countries enter the stadium in alphabetical order. Greece is always first, as a reminder that the Games began in Greece many years ago. The host country always enters the stadium last.

To complete the activity, students will:
1. Cut out the flags and the name tags. Identify the countries that go first and last in the lineup and glue those in place.
2. Put the remaining country name tags in alphabetical order.
3. Match the correct flag to each country.
