Learning to Read a Measuring Tape Can Be Fun!

Teaching elementary students how to read a measuring tape can be an eye-opening and struggle-filled experience for educators and students. This seemingly basic skill requires so much more than just looking at the lines. Students need a strong background in finding fractions on a number line and loads of practice to transfer those skills to a measuring tape. This year, we’re excited to help you ensure your students ‘measure up’ when it comes to reading a tape measure!

Skip That Reading a Tape Measure Worksheet!

There’s no need to hunt down yet another worksheet to give your students for independent practice when you’ve got task cards! This resource download includes a set of 24 task cards, each featuring a measuring tape and an object to measure to the nearest quarter, half, and whole inch.

We recommend getting your students up and moving while learning by posting these cards around the classroom and having students engage with them via a Gallery Walk activity or as a fun game of SCOOT!
