More About Our Hands-on Activities for Teaching Volume

Curious about the three hands-on activities for teaching volume included in this set? Here is some more information so you can choose the activities that will best delight and teach your students.

Volume Scavenger Hunt: Students will go on a classroom scavenger hunt, searching for everyday objects that meet the dimension or volume requirements on their recording sheets. They will then sketch the object, record the measurements, and calculate the volume.

Volume Building Challenge: Students will build rectangular prisms meeting specific criteria using provided materials like pipe cleaners, toothpicks, marshmallows, and even uncooked spaghetti! They will then accurately record the dimensions and calculate the volume.

“What’s the Volume?” Game: Students will participate in a game show to estimate and calculate the volume of a variety of everyday objects like cereal boxes, books, and containers. The team that has the closest estimates wins!
